Today we made a H
omopolar motor If you want to make one yourself you will need A battery A piece of copper wire Three or more Magnets . How to make it Place the Magnet on the battery Then make a shape with the wire place The wire carefully on the Battery And if you do it right you will find that the wire will start spinning .
We have two main players: a magnet and a wire. The magnet has an invisible field called a magnetic field that pushes and pulls on things. The wire acts as a track for tiny, invisible charged particles called electrons that flow when you connect it to a battery.
When the electrons travel through the wire near the magnet’s field, they experience a special push or shove called the Lorentz force. This force acts like a tiny sideways nudge, trying to push the electrons in a specific direction.
Dragon Eyes
On Friday afternoons, we do Action Stations. This term, I chose to make Dragon Eyes.
First, we read some descriptions of dragons and identified their characteristics.
Then we completed a planning sheet, considering what we wanted our dragon to be like. We thought about personality, color and features.
I decided I wanted my dragon to be a snow dragon. It is blue and purple. It is friendly and kind.
After that, we used the clay. First I rolled my clay into a ball. I made the shape of the eye with clay and put the eyeball in the middle. I made snow flakes around the eye and I put eyelids on.
Finally, we painted them.
This term we have been learning all about risks in our playground. We used a map of our school ground to identify certain risks. After identifying these risks our group decided to create a poster to show other people how to be careful and avoid getting hurt. This was for slippery rocks by the sandpit.
this is all about me
For maths We made a scratch activity and I coded my bug to make a square using rotations and movements.
The life cycle of Axolotls.
A female Axolotl lays multiple eggs. Axolotl eggs start out about the size of a pea. After a couple of weeks the Axolotl hatch and look like tiny fish.
Axolotls grow into miniature versions of their parents, Axolotls grow their legs, did you know Axolotls have feathery gills on the side of their head?
Axolotls can regenerate parts of the body including the heart. Axolotls have lugs just in case there is no oxygen.
So to sum it up axolotls start off as tiny eggs about the size of a pea, they hatch and look like tiny fish, Axolotls are amazing as they can regenerate, just like a superhero.
Did you know Why Penguins Feet turn bright pink When they exercise? This term We have been looking at native birds.I have enjoyed this experience Because I love birds My family also loves native birds to New Zealand we have tons of trees in our backyard so we can go Bird watching
